2000s Cartoons

These are cartoons that started the 2000’s. The new millennium. It was edgy coming out of the 90’s and jokes got significantly weirder.

These animated series started between the years of 2000 and 2010. This decade was dominated by Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and Nickelodeon. Canada and Japan also produced some interesting stuff that made it to the west.

Growing up in the 2000s was cool, because shows like “Ben 10”, “Kim Possible”, “Danny Phantom” and the fascinating “Avatar: The Last Airbender” were on the air.

There were also shows in the background that set the tone for the decade, like “Invader Zim”, “Phineas and Ferb“, and the growing popularity of Adult Swim’s content.

This decade didn’t exit the grunge era gracefully. Starting out, some 2000s cartoons held a refreshing edge, like “Invader Zim” or “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy”.

That led to a stark contrast from the passive and colorful entertainment of shows like “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” or “Codename: Kids Next Door”.

This decade had variety. The Internet became more prevalent in daily life, leading to diverse audiences and segmented fan bases locating their niche.

Animation grew stronger with speedier forms like computer animation and Flash animation on the Internet. It wasn’t better than traditional hand-drawn animation, but it was easier to produce.

Everyone started to find stuff that fit their grove by the end of the decade, because the recommendations were much easier to find online.

2000’s Cartoons I Watched

There were plenty of great animated series in the 2000s. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen them all (yet).

I was born in 97, so I wasn’t a teenager in this decade. I couldn’t watch much Adult Swim stuff yet.
Some of your favorite 2000s cartoons are not on this page. That means I’ve haven’t watched them. Sorry. Maybe one day I’ll add them. You’ll see updates to this list over time.

The purple links go to my discussions.
The green ones lead to their Wikipedia pages.
