90’s Cartoons
These are cartoons that started the 1990’s. This decade contained some incredible feats of animation.
These animated series started between the years of 1990 and 2000. You have the usual staples, like Cartoon Cartoons, Disney shows, and Nicktoons. You also get religious vegetables and foul-mouthed Colorado kids.
Animation was still primarily geared towards children in the 90’s. Growing up in the 1990s, there were shows like “Animaniacs”, “Dexter’s Laboratory”, “Rocko’s Modern Life” and the 90’s phenomenon “The Simpsons”.
In the background were shows that set the tone for the decade, like “Batman: The Animated Series”, “Ren & Stimpy“, or the endless stream of animated spin-offs made for Saturday morning.
This decade led to older audiences finally getting their own shows to watch. The 90’s wasn’t perfect, but it was the starting ground for cartoons to stop being viewed as ‘kids stuff’.
“Beavis and Butt-head” helped MTV teenagers hold onto the animated medium, allowing “Family Guy” to fill in the void at the end of the decade. They may have been crude and immature, but without them, adults wouldn’t be nearly as accepting of the medium.
90’s Cartoons I Watched
There were plenty of great animated series in the 90s. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen them all (yet).
I was born in 97, so most of these shows are geared toward young children.
Some of your favorite 90s cartoons are not on this page. That means I’ve haven’t watched them. Sorry. Maybe one day I’ll add them. You’ll see updates to this list over time.
