2017 Movies
If I don’t die, these are the films that I would like to watch.
They all were released in 2017.
The Space Between Us
The Lego Batman Movie
This was released in theatres on February 10, 2017.
If anything like its predecessor, this film will be a fair bit of goofy fun. It comes with quite a formidable cast – Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, and Rosario Dawson. They even got Ralph Fiennes. If the story is written well and the animation is half as colorful as the last film, then this is sure to be quite a hit.
John Wick: Chapter 2
It was released in theatres on February 10th, 2017
Kong: Skull Island
Released in theatres on March 10th, 2017.
Kong: Skull Island was released on 4K, 3D, Blu-ray and DVD on July 18, 2017.
Beauty and the Beast
The release date was set for March 17th, 2017.
Once again, a reboot of an animated film from the 90’s.
Power Rangers
Movie came out on March 24th, 2017.
A reboot of nostalgic show from the 90’s.
Ghost in the Shell
Release date was March 31st, 2017.
A strange and ridiculous attempt
at rebooting an animated film from 1995.
The Circle
Released in theatres April 28th, 2017.
Tom Hanks plays the villain. That alone is reason to be interested.
The film also stars Emma Watson, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt, and Bill Paxton.
The cast is fantastic.
The story may be a bit erratic though.
I hope that the film allows the actors to show their range without sacrificing a decent story.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
May 5, 2017
Alien: Covenant
May 19, 2017
Wonder Woman
June 2, 2017
Captain Underpants
June 2, 2017
The Mummy
June 9, 2017
Cars 3
June 16, 2017
Spider-Man: Homecoming
July 7, 2017
War for the Planet of the Apes
July 14, 2017
Baby Driver
Comes out on August 11, 2017
Edgar Wright is making this film. Anyone who is a fan of the Cornetto Trilogy or Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World should be excited to see this film. Jon Hamm, Jamie Fox, and Kevin Spacey sounds like an interesting mix.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle
October 6, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok
Comes out November 3, 2017.
I’ll admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of the sequel to Thor. Thor: The Dark World had a few pacing issues and I wasn’t a fan of Jane Foster, Natalie Portman‘s character in the first film, so her additional presence diminished the film. I have no issues with Mrs. Portman’s acting abilities, her character is simply poorly written and not enjoyable to me. Thankfully, her character is not in this film.
This film is being directed by Taika Waititi. If his previous films What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople are any indication, this film will be quite hilarious at some moments. I would like to see that. Thor can be a serious character, but if they simply embrace the insanity of a flying guy with a magic hammer they will find a nice balance. Thor was always an over the top series. I’m glad that a director may be able to work something fantastic out of Thor’s history. Adding the Hulk was a clever idea, considering Marvel can’t just make a Planet Hulk film. Hopefully this allows the Hulk to prove himself worthy for a standalone film again. Mark Ruffalo should have the character figured out after 3 films with the character. (Avengers, Avengers 2, and Thor 3)
Justice League
Out on November 17, 2017.
This should be interesting. After what happened with Batman V. Superman and Suicide Squad last year, let’s hope that they took a hard look at what made these characters great. The interactions between the members need to be utilized correctly. If they make it a joke, we treat it like a film that isn’t taking things seriously. Perhaps giving the job back to Zack Snyder was a mistake. While I liked Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman had a few flaws. I won’t know until I see it, so I will not judge it too harshly. I know that the visuals will be fantastic, and the cast is insane (They got JK Simmons to play James Gordan). The problem is that DC will be in a fair amount of hot water if this film doesn’t do as well as expected.
