Song of the Day: Time After Time

Today’s song is Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.
A pretty quick song, especially for something with this much sentiment.

I really like this one. It leaves me with a melancholy sadness while also being re-assuring.

Sometimes you picture me. I’m walking too far ahead.
You’re calling to me, I can’t hear what you’ve said.

The lyrics break my heart. An inherent simplicity that really hits you.
The duet angle works. Those backing elements have a soft twang to them.

There is an interesting cover by Quietdrive from the early 2000’s.
Yeah, it has a ton of elements that date it to that period, but so does the original.
