Song of the Day: Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

Today’s song is Istanbul (Not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants.
An alternative dance song from 1990.

Also, it’s a cover. Funny that. The original was from the 1950’s.
Most of the folks from my generation only recognize it from Tiny Toons Adventures or more recently, the Umbrella Academy.

This song was on my phone back in High School. So happy that I had this goofy track to hum to back then.

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam.
Why they changed it I can’t say. People just liked it better that way.

So catchy. I can’t stop humming. Also really dig the violin and brass elements.
