Song of the Day: Shakedown

Today’s song is Shakedown by Bob Seger.
For a song related to a film sequel (Beverly Hills Cop II), it tried a lot harder than anyone would have accepted.
Hell, it was nominated for an Academy Award (for Best Music – Original Song). Not bad.

Going up against the original’s musical accompaniment (Axel F and Patti LaBelle) was difficult.
That said, it carved out something rather special.

Shakedown. Breakdown. Takedown.
Everybody wants into the crowded line.

The second it slows down to re-emphasize the lyrics it becomes excellent.

It blurs the line a bit between a bit too much and too upbeat, but it’s really fun.
