Song of the Day: Killing Me Softly with His Song

Today’s song is Killing Me Softly with His Song by Fugees.

The intro sets the tone beautifully and it melds into a more energetic R&B/Hip-Hop track.
The fact that it maintains the soul from the Roberta Flack version is excellent. A lovely (yet unique) rendition.

That backing base/drum-loop is so smooth.

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style, and so I came to see him, to listen for a while.

It has this calming sweetness to it (with just enough clear-cut 90’s elements to remind you of it’s era).

Is it a bit dated due to the member shout-outs at the end? Yeah.
Can’t fault them for that. It was a product of their time.
Apart from that, it’s still a gorgeous track.
