Today’s song is California Love by 2Pac.

It’s not just that kick-ass talkbox hook or that beautiful progression.
There is just so much to love (and really respect) here.

Yeah, this is likely 2Pac’s biggest hit (it’s so mainstream they play it at just about every damn sport now).
This song came out one year before he was murdered. His influence on the genre cannot be understated.
He’s one of the best-selling hip hop artists of all time, and you can’t deny his creative efforts.

Let me serenade the streets of L.A from Oakland to Sac-town, the Bay Area and back down.

The discrepancy of lyrics between Dre and Tupac’s message really stands out when you dig into them.

It’s still a sweet track that truly showcases their love for California.
They feel the need to represent everyone with this track.
