Song of the Day: Don’t You Want Me

Today’s song is Don’t You Want Me by The Human League.

More British synth-pop.
This one somehow related to a cleaning product.
History is weird. The Internet only makes it more obvious.

But even then I knew I’d find a much better place either with or without you.

I really like the dichotomy between the vocalists. The woman has moved on and the other has not.

The lyrics are not sweet.
It’s a song of obsession and claiming ‘romance’ for simple power dynamics.

It’s cheesy. That much is true.
But that hook is golden. Some elements of funk and a flare of disco influence.
