Song of the Day: Turn Me On

Today’s song is Turn Me On by Kevin Lyttle.

I know. This goofy as hell.
That does not make the hook any less infectious, the electronic notes less direct or the blending worse off (even if it’s absurdly simple and repeats endlessly).

This song is from the Soca genre, which is an offshoot of Kaiso/Calypso (with influences from East Indian rhythms and hooks).

Me done feed her with popcorn and sprite.

This holds so many early-2000’s themes that the nostalgia is overpowering.

This track came out when I was six.
Of course I had no idea what the hell the song was about.

This track is still somehow entertaining, even if there isn’t much lyrical value (it’s repetition and blatant over-sexualized themes being key points).

For that alone, it deserves some credit, even if it’s just nostalgia talking.
