Song of the Day: You’re So Vain
Today’s song is You’re So Vain by Carly Simon.
There is a lot to delve into with this song.
The mood is so soulful and heart-felt, which makes the meaning behind the lyrics to be so interesting.
We’ve all know several self-absorbed people, but this one really breaks into the notion of loving them.
But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me.
I see you Jim Gordon, kicking ass on the drums with this one.
Also, we all know the album cover isn’t exactly discrete when it comes to it’s lack of secrets.
For a soft-rock early-70’s track, there really is a lot to love here.
The orchestration of it. The fact the Mick Jagger assisted with the backing vocals.
It’s a great sound that has aged like a fine wine.
