Song of the Day: Blister In The Sun

Today’s song is Blister In The Sun by Violent Femmes.

Folk punk. Come on, that’s kinda niche.
The song has a ‘whine’ to it that I adore.
It’s just such a damn groove, from the drums to the melding of the base.

When I’m out walking I strut my stuff and I’m so strung out.

The lyrics are simple, and it has a goofy twang to it, but it’s uniquely identifiable.

The song alludes to lack of control, both from drugs and premature ejaculation, of which the singer’s girlfriend is upset. Not exactly deep (or free from vulgarity there), but it works for the theme.

Songs like this fit a specific need, and I kinda like that.
It’s the summer, it’s hot, and we all occasionally blister in the sun.
