Song of the Day: Pretty Great

Today’s song is Pretty Great by Fickle Friends.

I like how this one sounds.
Synth-pop with a “college party/coming of age” feel.
You can really pick up on the influences from Sheryl Crow in this one (the band listened to her songs and knocked this out in about an hour).

Now I’m alone and I feel so dead. Wish I could be talking to you instead.

It’s simple and relies on vulgarity to give a punch to the lyrics, but it’s catchy and has a nice story.

The song really delves into how those moments that feel so small wind up being the focal points of our memories.
Especially when it comes to love.

I know, it’s not that great as a ‘well-rounded’ track. Kinda one-note.
Still, I could have featured an endless selection of better/worse songs.
I think this one is worth noting (for today).
