Today’s song is Come Hang Out by AJR.

Back to ‘traditional’ pop.
This one has some eclectic use of certain elements.
Pay close attention to the electronic loops and the digital sampling for the melody.

This group loves to implement trumpets, do-wop, and hip-hop styling to place emphasis on their progression.
It’s definitely unique and gives the band some intriguing numbers.

Come hang out ’cause you’re missing a lot.
You haven’t gone that far. You can find a real job.

Their sound can be described as ‘hyper’. I get that.

The meaning behind this track is rather emotional.
It centers around the work-ethic needed to become ‘great’, usually at the sacrifice of one’s social life.
The song really comes to a head when the backing response clearly states that they don’t believe in his efforts.
It’s both heartbreaking and endearing.
