Song of the Day: Somebody Else

Today’s song is Somebody Else by The 1975.

I love this song. R&B-inspired synth-pop.
I’ve heard it well over a hundred times and I’m still not tired of it.
That speaks volumes to it’s composition.
That, or I’m just an idiot that likes this particular track.
Who’s to say?

I start to believe in anything you’re saying.
I’m reminded that I should be gettin’ over it.

The song centers on the impact of a breakup, reacting harshly to feelings of jealousy. It’s brutal.

This is widely considered to be the best track from their (already amazing) second album.
Because of this, it’s been covered by a ton of artists.

My favorite is the rendition by Vérité.
It’s a bit darker and places more emphasis on the lyics (using heavier drums/guitar integration).
There are others, notably from Circa Waves, CHVRCHESLorde and Charlie Puth.
