Song of the Day: Hot Hot Hot

Today’s song is Hot Hot Hot by Buster Poindexter.

Calypso music.
Something tropical, released by David Johansen (the frontman for the New York Dolls, a proto-punk band) under a pseudonym.
Major props for his work on this. You can instantly tell that this was a passion project for him.

This song is just so fun. It’s positively dripping with entertaining elements.

Me mind on fire – Me soul on fire – Feeling hot hot hot.

I always grin like an idiot when the singers lower their voice to chant “real hot”.

This is actually a cover from the 1983 original by Arrow.
The music video is also fascinating because he managed to get Bill Murray to be in it.
This was likely because Johansen was the Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooged.
