Song of the Day: new heartbreak

Today’s song is new heartbreak by sad alex.

An interesting mix of pop, trap and (somehow) emo elements.
A neat mashup.

The electronic notions that flare up really keep the progression smooth.
It’s a bit chaotic at times (the drum kit in particular), but that’s due to the influences.
Really focuses on repetition and looping elements.

And all these other rebounds never made the world crash.

The hook of this track is such an ear-worm.
Some of the ‘static’ effects can get to be a bit much (especially near the end).

I normally dislike trap snippets, but this track seems to integrate them well.
Blends with the pop instead of distracting from it.
That’s nice. Don’t see that often.

The emotional context of the song is well-explored (even if it repeats endlessly).
You see that when you delve into the lyrics.
