Song of the Day: Just a Girl

Today’s song is Just a Girl by No Doubt.

New wave alt-rock from a punk ska band.

Still blows my mind that this band was the start of Gwen Stefani’s career.
She was in it with her brother, who left the group to become an animator for the Simpsons.
Trivia is wild.

“Just a Girl” was the first song Gwen Stefani wrote solo. Kinda cool in terms of validation, given how big it got.

The drums are a blast (and really mesh well with the pacing of the track).
It’s a fun song and I enjoy it’s sarcasm.

The opening riff is so damn catchy.
It’s refreshing and rather enjoyable.
I’m sorry that many were introduced to this because of Captain Marvel.
