Song of the Day: Riptide
Today’s song is Riptide by Vance Joy.
Indie/Folk-pop. Wanted to keep the Indie selection going.
Inherently a mellow, ‘beach’ feel from an Australian singer.
As you pick it apart you really grow to appreciate the vocals.
They blend well with the upbeat instrumental, which solidifies itself with it’s frantic pacing.
and I got a lump in my throat cause you’re gonna sing the words wrong.
I enjoy how it intensifies as it continues. Really pulls focus with the harmonies and the heavier drumming.
My favorite thing to pay attention to in this song are the harmonic vocals.
Adds that extra, ‘ethereal’ weight to the meaning of the track.
There is an interesting cover by Misterwives.
Nothing completely different, but worth noting nonetheless.
