Song of the Day: In The Air Tonight

Today’s song is In The Air Tonight by The Protomen.

A cover from a geeky Rock band.
Nothing against the brilliant original by Phil Collins.
Just wanted to showcase something a bit more contemporary.

This version plays heavier emphasis toward the vocals at the beginning.
Once the drop hits, they really go all-out (as they should).

The hurt doesn’t show, but the pain still grows.
It’s no stranger to you and me.

We all love the ‘mid-song’ hook. It makes the song phenomenal and endlessly classic.

Most would point out the drums, but there are quite a few interesting backing elements that work to their favor.

Having this band pay more attention to the backing synth, you really start to appreciate their contribution.
Many have covered this track, but this one has stuck with me.
