Song of the Day: Shock The Monkey

Today’s song is Shock The Monkey by Peter Gabriel.

Synth-pop from the master of odd songs himself.
Okay, so he isn’t the only oddity in music. There are thousands of odd ducks.
Still, he’s one of the more successful/well-known artists.

I adore Gabriel’s style.
Fell in love with his work this year.
This was one of the best standouts of his that stuck with me.

The song is repetitive and a bit long, but damn if it isn’t satisfying (especially with those guitar sweeps).

The instrumentation adds an industrial feel. A bit jarring, but works in it’s favor.
All of the layers together makes this one a confusing track.

It makes me grin.
