Today’s song is I Put a Spell On You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

R&B/Shock-Rock.
The story of this song is nuts. I love it.
Seriously, read the history, then remember this was in the 50’s, and it’s a phenomenal backstory.

The guttural sound is so much fun. The pauses and tone really shape this song.

Something about this track makes me think this is a ghost story.

Most are familiar with this song due to two sources:
Hocus Pocus or 50 Shades of Grey.

Nothing against Bette Midler or Annie Lennox, but this one always takes the cake for me.
