Song of the Day: Zombie

Today’s song is Zombie by The Cranberries.

Alt-Rock/Grunge.
A protest song that is MUCH older than I thought (always considered it a mid-2000’s song).

The tone of this one is so harsh, but the feeling just drips off with each note.
Those drums really capture so much as it ramps.
Paired with the guitar (and that base holding up the backing) and it all comes together beautifully.

The lyrics say what they need to say, then give full room to the instrumentation. Love it.

More recent covers have taken most ears away from the original, particularly by
Bad Wolves or that rendition by Miley Cyrus.

I won’t lie. I love the recent renditions.
Still, the original has a ton of heart and meaning behind it.
