Song of the Day: Ghostbusters

Today’s song is Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.

Dance Pop.
Simple, melodic and sticks in your head like nothing else.

The music video was a surreal oddity of rapid-fire celebrity cameos (it has Danny DeVito and John Candy).

This song is cheesy, but that’s the point. The instrumentation is fantastic though.

Funny when you consider the lawsuit for Hewey Lewis (“I Want A New Drug“, which came out several months before, claiming the melody was stolen, and you can hear why).

Once again, this track led to a goofy mashup (Bustin) by Neil Cicierega.
I consider the loop on that to surpass the original. Also helps that the humor stacks well too.
