Song of the Day: Friends

Today’s song is Friends by Chapel.

Indie pop-rock.
A short, simple track (with an explicit edge, sorry).

I like the progression. It’s mellow/lethargic, yet energetic and somehow introspective.
As you examine the lyrics, the mindset of them becomes clear-cut.

I’m all alone and I just hit up all my friends.

The backing instrumental buildup works great. The pace of the drums makes the track soothing.

It may just be that riff that hooks me, but I like this song.
You can really pick apart the layering rather well, and it’s fun to examine this one.
