Song of the Day: 100 Years
Today’s song is 100 Years by Five for Fighting.
Soft Rock.
Couldn’t highlight Five for Fighting without mentioning this track. It’s my favorite from him.
Also, wanted to end the year on a pretty reflective song. This works.
I’m just so fond of the piano on this. It’s excellent, well-paced, and melds beautifully with the other instruments.
I’m 99 for a moment, and dying for just another moment.
And I’m just dreaming, counting the ways to where you are.
Songs that remind you of mortality are either hauntingly sad or pleasantly comforting. This one is a bit of both.
I’ve been listening to this song regularly since before I was fifteen, so it has a heavier meaning for me.
At this point, I’m already past the first two ‘ages’ of the song, and that makes it more melancholy.
I’m curious about how this track impacts me moving forward. At this point, it already gets me a bit worked up.
Give me a few years and I’ll either hate it or break down emotionally. We’ll see.
