Song of the Day: Number One Fan

Today’s song is Number One Fan by MUNA.

Indie/Synth-Pop.
This track is catchy.
MUNA has a solid grip on setting an entertaining tone (when they’re not being down-beat and introspective, as they can be sometimes).
The main draw is the sick setup/hook (and the lyrics poke fun at fanbases).
There is an irony to the song that makes it stick out.

“Oh my God like, I’m your number one fan.”

This is one of those songs you can’t help but bob your head to (if you don’t feel like dancing).

The backing synth is ingrained in my head. Such an ear-worm.
Really works off the lyrics and props them up with a solid groove.
Yeah, it repeats a lot, but the pop to has enough draw that repetition doesn’t kill the enjoyment.
