Song of the Day: Flux

Today’s song is Flux by Michaela Slinger.

Pop.
The lyrics of this track become apparent when you notice the TITLE.
Accidentally confused the song for an expletive the first time I heard this one (a bit funny looking back).
That mistake really drove me further into the lyrics (which are quite beautiful when examined further).

 If I can’t shake it off that we’re just going through the motions,
we’re both lost in time.

The backing is strong, but the lyrics take central focus (and for good reason, as the vocals are excellent).

The drums and base hit a bit harsh, but it works to hammer-home the point (and plays to the song’s benefit most of the time).
It balances out with introspective musings behind the theme of the track.
Adds a lot to the end, building up as Slinger shows off her verbal range.
