Writing Excuses Notes: Blending Ideas
Here are some notes I took after listening to Writing Excuses.
It is an educational podcast that helps novelists/writers.
The topic of blending ideas was from Season 1, Episode 2.
Blending the Familiar and the Original
Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy.
The Strange Attractor : Taking something mundane and throwing in a twist or strange element.
Keep in mind that juxtaposition can become cliché.
Different audiences want a different ratio between familiar and original.
For some, the extraordinary can be mundane.
Find the right mix and hit your market.
A Quote
David Farland :
“Take one important thing and don’t explain it.
Take an unimportant thing and overly explain it.”
